Felician University’s Task Force Drives Innovation, Adoption and Compliance Across University Disciplines
Felician University’s AI Task Force, a team of university professionals responsible for identifying opportunities where artificial intelligence can enhance productivity, efficiency, learning outcomes, and workforce readiness, serves as a campus-wide resource that encourages the responsible and transparent use of emerging technologies. The task force continues to demonstrate ways in which the university can enrich its teaching strategies while preserving the integrity of the educational experience, reinforcing that AI is something students can use to enhance critical thinking, rather than rely on as a substitute for independent thought.
In June, faculty and staff of Felician participated in a full day of AI training, which was executed in partnership with Televisa and Google. The training measured the faculty’s AI intelligence, prompted thoughtful discussion about AI ethics, and explored valuable AI tools that could be integrated into the classroom and beyond. This training was one of many efforts being made to ensure 100% of faculty and staff are confidently trained to use and integrate AI tools into their curricula by 2028.
Beyond continued faculty training, the implementation of emerging AI technology is already impacting student success and outcomes at Felician. For example, Felician’s School of Education Applied Behavioral Analysis program recently made a transformative adoption of Intraverbal AI, a platform where students can upload their clinical assessments and receive a peer-reviewed report from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board based on how well the student meets standards of validity and ethicality. Processes such as these can otherwise take several hours or days to complete, underscoring Intraverbal AI’s transformative potential to boost student productivity while preserving the importance of human insight in the analysis process. Adopting and learning how to utilize these tools is preparing students to enter the workforce with the knowledge and skills that are critical for them to achieve success in their chosen fields.
Innovation at Felician is driven not only by external influences but also by ideas cultivated from within. The Felician Faculty Fellows Program supports faculty in exploring how emerging AI technologies can enhance student learning while promoting responsible, transparent, and critically reflective use of artificial intelligence. Grounded in Felician University’s Franciscan values, the program encourages projects that advance student success, strengthen digital literacy, and model ethical approaches to AI integration across disciplines.
In addition to educational integrations, Felician’s AI Task Force has developed a comprehensive compliance plan, set of ethical guidelines and multiple institutional policies that help govern the use, access and adoption of AI tools at the university to ensure alignment across all organizational departments. Key members of the task force have also been featured contributors in AI-specific media articles in publications including NJ Business Magazine and Commerce Magazine and have been active participants and speakers at statewide events, where colleges and universities from all over the state are sharing ideas, processes and practices around AI.
Through these multi-faceted efforts, and those to still come, Felician University is positioning itself at the forefront of AI in higher education through a unified effort that drives innovation, empowers faculty and students, ensures responsible and transparent adoption, and keeps pace with the fast-moving evolution of AI learning and integration.
