PV systems can drive decarbonisation quickly and easily to meet climate targets faster.
Both global climate change and the steadily increasing demand for energy require swift intervention; we need to decarbonize more quickly. In Germany alone, the annual energy consumption of data centers exceeds 16 billion kWh. Globally, the rise of industrial IoT applications could consume up to 364 TWh (approximately 1.03%) of total energy by 2030 (source). To meet the growing energy demand and simultaneously stop decarbonization, the energy transition must be significantly accelerated.
As the European market leader in mounting solutions for photovoltaic systems, K2 Systems sees itself both capable and obligated to advance the generation of electricity from solar energy worldwide.
We also utlitize the power of modern data centers, as we are increasingly using more and more digital tools to assist planners and installers of PV systems. Thanks to our AI-supported software, the planning process is significantly simplified, and with the help of clever interfaces, it is further accelerated. Collaborations are also crucial´for us. Whether in the development of innovative and installation-friendly products or in the expansion of our digital services, we work closely with international partners. This exchange results in a level of expertise that a single company would find challenging to achieve on its own.
Let wisdom grow
It is precisely this expertise that we pass on. In our Resource Center – an interactive learning area – we are witnessing a rapid increase in knowledge-hungry participants. These PV enthusiasts are the ones we need to achieve climate goals. Given the shortage of skilled workers, it is necessary to train career changers and newcomers to plan and install numerous PV systems on roofs, building walls, and open spaces. Because these installations will be the ones generating the required kWh – and in a decentralized manner!
And that’s precisely our desire: a green energy supply in the hands of many people. And for that, everyone should be empowered to contribute independently and quickly. Thanks to free training sessions, webinars, and 24/7 support in our community, we are expanding the number of technically skilled installers worldwide.
Keeping an eye on the big picture.
Sustainable products must also be cleverly designed. Our versatile and compatible systems ensure quick and easy assembly, and are structured using modular principles. This approach facilitates simplified inventory management and reduces the flow of goods, which in turn conserves resources. And thanks to our sustainable supply chain comprised of medium-sized European companies, we proactively reduce CO2 emissions on the procurement side.
Researchers are warning of a sharp rise in energy consumption in data centres as a result of artificial intelligence (AI). “AI tools consume a lot of electricity, and the trend is rising,” said Ralf Herbrich, Managing Director of the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) in Potsdam and Head of the Artificial Intelligence and Sustainability department, to the dpa news agency. It is clear that the expansion of renewable energies must be significantly accelerated and the global targets for the energy transition must be adjusted.
Our contribution from K2 Systems includes: our high-quality components that support the global PV market, intensive training and the provision of digital solutions. In this way, PV expansion can be driven forward quickly and sustainably worldwide.
