Free Flow Parking Technology Begins With the Rhythm of New Orleans

New Orleans moves to its own rhythm. Festivals fill historic streets, music spills from open doors and visitors flow through neighborhoods shaped by culture and history. That sense of movement is where Premium Parking’s story begins.

Premium Parking is featured in a documentary exploring how its free-flow parking technology, GLIDEPARCS®, grew from its New Orleans roots into a national modern parking management company. The film highlights the company’s guiding philosophy – People, Places, Platform – and how thoughtful parking design & operation can shape the way people experience a destination.

Challenging Industry Norms With Free Flow Parking Technology

Founded in 2005, Premium Parking began questioning long-standing industry practices built around gates, tickets and hardware. A defining moment came in the French Quarter, where the company removed gates instead of replacing costly equipment. The results reshaped the company’s approach. Traffic moved more smoothly, maintenance costs dropped and the parking experience became easier for visitors, residents and property owners.

That moment ultimately helped inspire the development of GLIDEPARCS®, Premium Parking’s full-stack technology platform. Built around the company’s People, Places, Platform, GLIDEPARCS connects license plate recognition, payments, compliance and data insights into a single system designed to make parking simpler for everyone involved.

“Parking should remove friction, not create it,” said CEO James Huger. “When parking works, people can focus on enjoying great places.”

President Ben Montgomery said the platform helps address one of the parking industry’s biggest challenges: disconnected systems.

“A full stack approach gives cities better data and a better experience for parkers,” Montgomery said.

Today, Premium Parking operates more than 1,500 locations nationwide, helping municipalities, venues and real estate owners modernize parking operations through automation and real-time insight.

The Future of FreeFlow Parking Technology

As cities invest in mixed-use development, events and tourism, parking systems must evolve alongside them. Premium Parking believes free flow parking technology will increasingly connect with broader mobility systems, using real time data and automation to improve how people arrive, move through and experience a destination.

Through GLIDEPARCS® and its People, Places, Platform philosophy, Premium Parking aims to create parking that is seamless, transparent and easy to use.

From New Orleans to cities across the country, the company’s mission remains clear: design parking experiences that support vibrant communities—because People Deserve Great Places
