Enzymatica’s Barrier Solutions ‘Powered By Penzyme’
The story begins in the depths of the North Atlantic Ocean with temperatures as low as -39.7C. In these unforgiving conditions few organisms thrive, yet the Atlantic cod selects it as its natural habitat.
Attention and study from the University of Iceland started when the healthy skin of fish handlers was noticed despite these harsh working conditions.
This led to the identification of cod trypsin, a class of natural enzymes that were found to have a special catalytic effect on human skin and mucous membranes.
Exploratory research called for further development. This led to the discovery of a special group of enzymes and importantly how to optimally isolate, purify and stabilize them in a patented formulation called Penzyme. The first formulations were tested and proven for their skin protecting effect. However, as research grew, investigations focused on protection of the mucous membranes against bacteria and viruses.
This in turn led to the development of formulations to protect against upper respiratory viruses that rapidly mutate, creating changing health problems to which everyone is susceptible.
Studies conducted by Independent Investigators at The Medical University of Innsbruck and The University of Kent then followed, clinically showing that a throat spray formulation, powered by Penzyme, reduces viral load, breaks the virus cycle, thereby inhibiting the virus’s ability to infect cells and multiply.
These studies included a range of upper respiratory viruses and their main variants with interim results from a double-blind, placebo-controlled study at The University of Kent showing significantly lower viral load for Rhinovirus.
This further validates the unique ability and power within the Penzyme barrier formula to halt the ability of viruses to infect cells and multiply. It simply stops viruses sticking. The study is ongoing with expected completion later in the year.
Such results offer important improvements to important global health challenges.
Furthermore, they introduce an innovation of high relevance to healthcare providers as upper respiratory learnings from Covid-19 are digested.
