With the rise of the circular economy, recycling and sustainability has become key concerns of international brands and retailers who are keen to respond to consumer needs. Consumers’ awareness of environmental protection and their emphasis on sustainable development are the driving force for the textile industries to be more innovative with their current practice.
Established in 1992, Kingwhale is a vertically integrated corporation with high performance products and integrated commercial services that range from fiber spinning, knitting, dyeing, finishing and GORE-TEX certified garment factories.
Smart Manufacturing with AI for optimal operation
As part of the global supply chain, to become a green and smart factory is an important sustainable goal for Kingwhale and its clients. First things first, efficiently utilize the resources currently owned. Followed by improving production efficiency by implementing smart manufacturing and to apply AI into its system.
Designed for sustainable performance fabric
Kingwhale has always committed to environmental protection issues. Creative technology combined with energy-saving and environmentally friendly materials has successfully supplied the performance driven market. In order to meet client needs, Kingwhale has focused on material science to create innovative yarns and fabrics. As an example, L.I.T.(R) , the Low Impact Technology yarn, enable to dye fabric in a comparatively lower temperature compared to conventional polyester, which can save:
- 15% in dyestuffs,
- 22% of the electricity for heating and cooling
- 50% of thermal energy used to create steam
- 60% of the water needed for dye presentation and waste-water management
L.I.T. yarn means “less waste”, “fewer resources”,” lower energy”, and has attracted the attention of the market.
Transforming Waste into Circular Economy
Focusing on a circular system in textiles, Kingwhale is innovating the future of recyclable fibers. Using post- industrial, post-consumer discarded garments or fabric waste as the feedstock that would otherwise go to a landfill or incinerated, to regenerate them into new, eco-friendly materials. This regenerated material, RevioTM, is meant to be resourceful to reduce the carbon emission, minimize environmental impact to regenerate and maximize the end-of-life use of textiles and garments. RevioTM is not just about recycling, redefining the value of the textile industry.
A Pioneer of Green Power
Kingwhale has joined the RE100 initiative with a goal to use 100% renewable energy by 2040, the first textile company in the Asia-Pacific region to make that commitment. Kingwhale’s renewable energy initiative started with building roof-top solar panels in all of its factories. In addition, continue to develop properties and build solar panel projects to increase the ratio of green power. Also, working on integrating renewable energy into its energy storage system. To extend its renewable energy effort, Kingwhale also co-founded an energy platform which sources and manages renewable energy assets to assist brands and manufacturers globally to manage and accomplish renewable energy strategy.
A “Sustainable” Contributor of Supply Chain
Sustainability has become a core element of brands. As part of the global supply chain, Kingwhale is not only an important strategic partner of clients but also a sustainable contributor in the supply chain to make a better future for all.
