All4Labels is innovating for a sustainable packaging industry future
Packaging plays a vital role in ensuring a product’s safety and quality, as well as convenience, and shelf life. Good packaging also contributes to environmental and social challenges, such as waste generation, resource depletion, greenhouse gas emissions, and health risks. The question is, how can packaging meet the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)? How can it contribute to those stated goals of ending poverty, protecting the planet, and ensuring peace and prosperity for all?
All4Labels offers many answers – it is helping to transform the packaging industry by prioritizing sustainability throughout the whole value chain.
Revolutionizing Sustainable Packaging with Digital Innovation
As one of the world’s leading label companies, All4Labels is a pioneer in sustainable and digital packaging solutions across a wide range of industry segments. The level of innovation and digitalization offered by the group plays a key role in advancing businesses’ goals, with extensive investments at more than 50 global production sites, dedicated to the latest digital and hybrid technologies.
A strong digital footprint has allowed All4Labels to reduce energy consumption compared with traditional printing methods. Strong commitment to pioneering more sustainable productive process has resulted in operations that minimize run waste, and use toolless and high-drying methods (even with high ink coverage). Such constant innovation enables cutting-edge solutions for a more sustainable future.
The urgency of addressing climate change is reflected in some ambitious projects, embracing the latest printing technologies and renewable energy and achieving significant CO2 emissions reductions inside All4Labels operations.
Paloma Alonso, All4Labels CEO, said that R&D is one of the group’s main areas of investment: “Our successes in boosting sustainability depend on many different approaches. For example, some very dedicated internal teams have been working with various university and association partnerships to create new Centers of Excellence (CoE). These are research hubs, where professionals and experts focus their efforts especially on recyclability and recycled materials – hubs where whole new ideas can emerge.”
Cutting-Edge Packaging Solutions: All4Labels’ STAR Portfolio and CO2 Reduction Initiatives
Emerging from the group’s commitment is a flow of new products. In 2022, All4Labels successfully launched its STAR portfolio – a full range of products and services that helps brand owners to maximize their business opportunities while enhancing environmental performance. Giving customers access to a comprehensive range of labeling and packaging products, in combination with leading services and solutions, helps to drive unmatched transformations across industries. STAR helps to achieve ambitious packaging reduction, reuse, and recycling targets.
Another carbon footprint reduction came about in 2022, when All4Labels pursued an internal initiative to switch from conventional curing to LED print curing. All4Labels COO Günther Weymans: “By retrofitting around 70 printing machines across 13 different All4Labels sites, we expect to see reduced carbon emissions of approximately 2,000 tons each year. We are also decarbonizing our electricity needs by investing in high quality Energy Attribute Certificates (EAC), and by generating onsite electricity using solar panels.”
All4Labels’ Future Vision: Pioneering a Sustainable Packaging Legacy
All4Labels’ beliefs in both redefining packaging excellence and promoting environmental consciousness are inspiring positive change and creating a brighter future for generations to come. From waste to emissions, All4Labels is taking bold actions and making concrete investments.
