At IHH Healthcare, “Care. For Good.” reflects our lasting commitment to drive positive change for Patients, People, Public and Planet.
A global leader tackling a global challenge
As a leading international healthcare provider, IHH is uniquely positioned to touch lives and transform care. With an unmatched footprint of over 80 hospitals in 10 countries and 70,000 employees, we deliver clinical excellence and touch millions of lives each year.
Every day, we push beyond the Hippocratic Oath of “doing no harm”, recognising our extensive reach means we have to do more to proactively address healthcare’s unique challenge of saving lives while embracing sustainable practices.
The healthcare industry is one of the largest greenhouse gas emitters due to our 24/7 operations, handling of hazardous materials, and reliance on disposables. While we can never compromise patient safety, we also understand that a sick planet means sicker patients. At IHH, we are committed to leading the way in sustainable healthcare – because protecting our planet is essential to protecting our health.
Advancing our sustainability agenda
That is why we are leveraging our leadership in healthcare – our global scale, reputation for clinical excellence, and portfolio of trusted brands – to drive meaningful change.
In 2022, we set clear, measurable sustainability goals to deliver better outcomes by 2025 for our four key stakeholders: Patients, People, Public and Planet. Our longer-term goal is to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
For Patients, we are shifting from “pay for service” to “pay for outcomes”, ensuring they receive the best outcomes and value in a cost-effective manner.
For our People, we are committed to making IHH the best place to work, supporting our employees’ total well-being while providing over one million training hours annually to nurture their career growth and development.
For the Public, we are building healthier communities by addressing global health challenges such as antimicrobial resistance and disease burden from cancer and cardiovascular diseases, while widening access to quality care for the underserved populations and promoting healthy lifestyles wherever we operate.
And to protect our Planet, we are accelerating clean energy adoption, installing rooftop solar panels across our Malaysian hospitals by 2026 and launching a large-scale solar project in Turkiye that is expected to supply up to 80% of Acibadem’s electricity. We have cut single-use virgin plastics in non-clinical areas by up to 99% in Singapore and Malaysia and are reducing environmentally harmful anaesthetic gas emissions in key markets like Malaysia, Singapore, Türkiye, India and Hong Kong.
A Vision for Healthcare Leadership
IHH’s vision is to be the world’s most trusted healthcare network – a beacon for patient treatment, sustainable business practices, and how we care for our people, communities and environment.
Our size and scale empower us to do all these, but they also place a greater responsibility on us to do more.
To protect the health of humanity, we must also prioritise the health of the planet and our communities. This is what healthcare leadership means to us – leveraging our global expertise and footprint to transform care and shape a sustainable future. This is how we Care. For Good.
